Teimeris
The sky, worked out on your phone.
Teimeris is the astronomy engine we build ourselves. It places the Sun and the Moon, and from them the app works out every tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana, sunrise and sunset, and the day’s timings. Holidays and festivals follow what Nepal publishes, and every date says where it comes from.
- Built in
- The engine is compiled into the app. There is nothing to download first, and nothing about you is sent anywhere to work out a date.
- Offline, everywhere
- The calendar, the panchanga, sunrise and every timing work with no connection: on a trek, on a plane, or wherever the signal gives out.
- For your sunrise
- A tithi belongs to the day it is running at sunrise, and sunrise in Biratnagar is not sunrise in Dhangadhi, or in Sydney. The app works it out for the place you choose, and says so when your day’s tithi differs from Nepal’s.
- Two methods
- Drik, precise modern astronomy with the Sun and Moon from Teimeris, is the default. Surya Siddhanta, the classical method of Nepal’s official panchanga, is one switch away.
